SEATTLE - June 6, 2016 - PRLog -- Fine Art Painter, Laura Lovera was selected by Sundance Cinemas Gallery of Robert Redford's Sundance Group for an exclusive exhibition at their Sundance Cinema Gallery in Seattle, WA.  The artist's work was chosen from a group of local artists who submitted their work for consideration to Sundance via an exclusive partnership with StudioVox.

Lovera's exhibition entitled, "Iqueña" runs from May 28 through August 2016.  The title, Iqueña" means "Woman from Ica" - Ica is the name of her small hometown in Peru, South America where she was born. The exhibit explores of her two worlds - Coming to America at the age of 21, leaving behind everything she knew and ultimately falling in love with Seattle and everything in the United States. "It is where I am from but more importantly it is who I am. A woman from Ica," she says.

A self-taught artist, her work is influenced by her Peruvian culture and her life in the US. Her paintings are contemporary abstracts; acrylics on canvas. Canvases filled with life and rich colors, channeling music from the Andes and her love for her two worlds.

"The colors of Peru, my first home - The land of the Inca Empire. A country divided in to three regions, Costa, Sierra Y Selva. (Coast, Andes and Jungle)," she says.  "Everything is very colorful in Peru, from my people in the Andes and the rich and colorful mountains to the birds in the amazon jungle; they all radiate color, passion, and happiness. My two beautiful worlds, that is my inspiration."

In 1983, Lovera immigrated to the United States to seek greater opportunities for herself and her son. "I moved to the U.S. without knowing how to speak English. So confronted with the need to provide for my family, my artistic endeavors were put on hold while I worked and became a citizen," she says.  "In 2010 I was reacquainted with my love for art and began to paint once again. Without any formal training, I decided to use my surroundings, my passion for life, music, texture and rich colors as my inspiration. I am the happiest when I am creating new paintings!"

Sundance Cinemas VP of Marketing and Gallery Curator, Nancy Gribler was drawn to the vibrancy of Laura's works. "Her work reminds me of a rich and colorful tapestry,' says Gribler. "Weaving together a collection of experiences and emotions through color.  You can feel the joy. We are happy to have her work on view at the Sundance Seattle."

StudioVox President, Amanda Slingerland agrees, "Laura's paintings feel like a celebration of life.  Colorful and bold, like the excitement of exploring a new city you've never seen before, they capture your heart."
