Morgan Auto Group and The New Barker host JUST ONE DAY pet adoption event June 11 at 10 area auto dealershipsVolunteers and adoptable dogs from various breed-specific rescue groups, shelters and animal services will be participating during the event to provide an alternative to euthanasia
By: Brandon Honda A day, or 24 hours, is one way to measure time. A new day is something most people look forward to … a celebration … a new beginning. But, in animal shelters all across this country, more than 10,000 dogs and cats are euthanized every single day from overcrowding. JUST ONE DAY has become a national movement to encourage shelters to stop killing animals for 24 hours and, instead, find other, more creative ways to adopt out their adoptable dogs and cats. The New Barker and Morgan Auto Group are participating in this year's event for the second consecutive year to raise awareness locally of the large number of good, healthy dogs and cats available for adoption through either breed specific rescue groups, shelters such as SPCAs and Humane Societies, or through county-run shelters and animal services. Organizers hope the nationwide one-day event will successfully find forever homes for as many as 16,000 pets. "We're holding the adopt-a-thon indoors at the invitation of ten Morgan Auto Group dealerships so that our guests, volunteers, and especially our animals will be cooler and more comfortable," "I adopted Zeus from the Elizabeth Animal Rescue and Sanctuary (E.A.R.S.) and encourage others to support our local pet adoption agencies," said John Marazzi, Managing Partner of Brandon Honda and Sun Toyota. "We at Morgan Auto Group are committed to bringing awareness to the problem of overcrowding at shelters and making more pet adoptions readily available throughout our surrounding communities. We thank The New Barker for leading this effort so we can all to do more to help the shelters throughout the year, instead of just one day."
