NEW YORK - June 2, 2016 - PRLog -- Game on filmmakers! Assemble your team, as the Winter Film Awards 48-Hour Film Challenge kicks off June 3 in NYC with awesome prizes up for grabs! AJA Video Systems is lending its support this year by offering an AJA CION 4K/UHD/2K/HD professional production camera package worth $7500 as the grand prize to the team awarded "Best Picture."

About the Challenge
WINTER FILM AWARDS challenges the local NYC community to create a 4-7 minute short film in a specified genre, tagline and prop in just a single gonzo weekend! Thirty teams of the most creative people in the tri-state area have just 48 sleepless hours to decide what they are going to do, write a screenplay, assemble props, costumes and actors, rehearse, shoot, score and edit their film. Students, amateurs, and seasoned industry veterans alike learn the importance of caffeine, team work and time management in successful filmmaking.

About AJA CION
AJA CION (https://www.aja.com/en/products/cion) is an ergonomic, lightweight 4K/UltraHD and 2K/HD production camera that captures edit-ready Apple ProRes files, including 12-bit ProRes 444, at up to 4K 60fps. Offering incredible image quality capture to AJA Pak SSD media and compatibility with a wide range of post production applications, CION also outputs AJA Raw at up to 4K 120 fps via 4 x 3G-SDI or up to 4K 30 fps via Thunderbolt™.

CION includes more simultaneous on-set monitoring outputs than any camera in its class, a built-in confidence monitor and LAN browser video tap for greater monitoring flexibility. Users can choose a combination of 2 x 4K/UltraHD and 3 x 2K/HD or 8 x 2K/HD, check each camera feed in multi-cam setups with an integrated LAN connection, and monitor remaining recording time. With a unique LAN port and embedded webserver for remote configuration and control, users can set up and control or gang control multiple CION cameras using a standard web browser.

The camera is made from a lightweight yet strong magnesium alloy and comes with a contoured suede shoulder pad, making it easy and comfortable to set up and use. On-set, users can tap AJA's Pak Dock for quick transfer speeds via Thunderbolt™ or USB 3 for immediate access to files for editing. Third-party lens mounts are also available.

In April, AJA released v1.3 firmware for the camera, which is available today as a free software download (https://www.aja.com/en/products/cion#support). Developed with new features based on customer feedback, the update refines CION's imagery pipeline with improved highlight handling and black detail in every gamma mode, on top of new gamma naming conventions more closely aligning the modes to industry standards. New renamed gamma settings are now available in the CION menu and include new options for Standard, Expanded, Video and Cine modes.

CION is available through AJA's worldwide reseller network at a US MSRP of $4995.00. For more information, visit: https://www.aja.com/en/products/cion.
