The 2½ story, 6,000 square foot home is a fine example of turn-of-the- In addition to a new fence, visitors will notice the new roof. Over the years, the roof of the stately mansion had fallen into disrepair from mildew and termites. Classic cedar shingles and copper downspouts befitting the home's unique styling are now in place. In addition, the home's original fuse panels have been upgraded with new breaker systems for added safety. All three projects totaling $565,000 were completed by Chris-Tel Construction on behalf of the City of Fort Myers. Lastly, a new water drainage system now aligns the back side of the property near the new Gale McBride Pavilion. The project, paid for by the Uncommon Friends Foundation and completed by HONC Industries, enables full utilization of the home and gardens during the rainy season, allowing for events year-round. Reservations for tours of the historic Burroughs Home & Gardens are available at $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for children. Weddings and special events are currently being booked for the historic riverfront mansion and outdoor pavilion.
