MINNEAPOLIS & ST. PAUL, Minn. - June 21, 2016 - PRLog -- IrriGreen, Inc. announced that Governor Mark Dayton has proclaimed July 2016 as Smart Irrigation Month in Minnesota. Sponsored by the Irrigation Association, Smart Irrigation Month is a national campaign to increase awareness about simple practices and innovative technologies homeowners and businesses can use to sustain healthy lawns and landscapes while using water resources more efficiently.

"July is a peak month for water use. For example, the City of Woodbury, Minn. supplies an average of four million gallons of water per day during the winter. In the summer, daily water use goes up to as much as 16 million gallons," said Gary Klinefelter, founder and president, IrriGreen, Inc. "Lawn irrigation accounts for most of the summertime increase, making July a good month to consider smart irrigation practices and technologies that conserve water."

"We overwater our lawns, and as much as 50 percent of the water we use outdoors is wasted by inefficient and ineffective irrigation systems and methods," said Bobby Jensen, sales director, IrriGreen, Inc. "The good news is that we can enjoy our green lawns while saving vast amounts of water."

Reducing water use can help homeowners and businesses save money on their utility bills. It contributes to reducing the need for costly public spending on new infrastructure to store and convey water. It protects our communities' water supplies for the future. During Smart Irrigation Month, IrriGreen will share tips on water saving practices and technologies on its Facebook and LinkedIn pages.
