By: IntegraCare Resident Christine Fritch turns 100 that day. Candle Light Cove will hold a U.S. Navy and cruise line themed party, beginning at 1 p.m. Maryland State Senator Adelaide Eckardt is scheduled to attend the event and read a proclamation in honor of Christine Fritch. She also will read a proclamation from Maryland Governor Larry Hogan. The Maryland State Council Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) will attend with the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 5118 of Easton, which will provide a color guard and present Fritch with an American flag and honorary induction into the VVA. "Christine went to nursing school and was in the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II," said Tami Weber, Director of Sales and Marketing at Candle Light Cove. "She served as a Navy nurse for many years, being promoted to the rank of commander, which during her tenure was the highest rank of a female. Christine worked on Navy ships, and as such grew to have a fondness for participating in ocean cruises." "Christine took numerous cruises during her lifetime, including several to South America, and most notably, a cruise around the world at 90 years old," Weber added. Fritch became a part of the Candle Light Cove community in January. She will be presented an American Flag in recognition to her service to her country. www.integracare.com End
