By: Funky Jazz Band absence. Dave Hanlon, who formed the original band in 1976, has teamed up with a stellar group of musicians to recreate the energy and excitement that surrounds this music. While all the players are involved in other musical projects, the members of FJB blend their talents together, to present a melodic and rhythmic foundation of funky jazz instrumentals. Ron France (Prime Time Funk) is on Bass Brian Scherer (DeSantis Orchestra) is on Reeds Jim O'Mahony (Groupo Pagan) is on Guitar Ed Vivenzio (Cookbook) is on Keyboards Dave Hanlon (Cookbook) is on Drums. Funky Jazz Band can be heard Wednesdays this Summer at Greenwood Winery in East Syracuse, NY from 6-9 pm. Drawing on deep professional experience band members have recorded hundreds of studio sessions and have played with the likes of Rick Cua, Larry Arlotta, Mark Doyle, Joe Jewell, Paulie Cerra, Ava Andrews, Loren Barrigar; the bands of C.R.A.C., Dove, Duke Jupiter, Cookbook, Apple Jazz Band; and produced for Glen Kolotkin, Steve Katz, Tom Emmi, and Charlie Bertini and many, many others.
