Follow on Google News | Art Meets Science at MTR "art in mtr - roving art" ExhibitionBy: MTR Corporation "Incorporating art into the learning of science allows students to put their scientific knowledge into play and practical use while stimulating their creativity in the process," said Dr Benny Ng, Faculty of Science Lecturer of HKU and SMArt Project Director. "By displaying students' artworks in MTR stations, we hope to broaden the community's understanding of the connection between science, mathematics and art, and thus nurture our younger generation's interest in combining creativity with knowledge," he added. "We often appreciate art for its aesthetics and underlying messages, but there are in fact scientific theories behind particular art forms that allow artists to showcase their creativity. Artists are in a way scientists themselves, striving for perfection through different ways of experimentation. Through this exhibition, we hope to offer not only a platform for students to showcase their artworks but also a different angle for our customers in appreciating art," said Ms Linda So, Corporate Affairs Director of MTR Corporation. Entitled "HKU SMArt Programme" Exhibition, the exhibition will be on show at MTR Sai Wan Ho and Tiu Keng Leng stations until 15 August. It will then move to Sheung Wan and Yau Tong stations for display from 19 August to 3 October. MTR Corporation offers space at different MTR stations for temporary art exhibitions under the "art in mtr" programme to promote artistic talent and the public's appreciation of art. Interested artists and organisations may call the MTR Hotline on 2881 8888 to enquire, or submit their proposals directly to the MTR Corporation. End
