New Executive Named at Students For LibertyVon Laer replaces Alexander McCobin, who was at the helm of Students For Liberty (SFL) for its first 10 years. As SFL's co-founder, McCobin started with just a handful of students and grew the organization into a global movement consisting of nearly 2,000 student groups which ran close to 100 conferences in the United States and around the world just last year alone. Von Laer, a German native who is relocating to Washington, D.C., has a long history with SFL, serving previously as a founding member of the European Executive Board in 2011, becoming chair of the European Executive Board the following year, and most recently joining staff as Director of Professional Development. McCobin said, "The SFL Board of Directors and I are confident in Wolf's abilities, perspective, and perseverance to take on this new responsibility and lead SFL into the future." Wolf will receive his PhD in Political Economy from King's College London in the near future. Von Laer's academic work focuses on entrepreneurship, the political economy of crisis, public choice, and Austrian economics. Wolf stated, "I am deeply humbled and honored by the decision of the Board of Directors to name me as SFL's next Chief Executive Officer. I want SFL to empower the most talented individuals to advance liberty. Our theory of social change is already bearing fruit and we have parliamentarians, policy advocates, business people, academics, and journalists among us. Our students spread liberty on campuses today and change the future tomorrow. I am passionate about our work and I will do my best to make SFL a predominant organization representing libertarianism world-wide." ### Student For Liberty's mission is to educate, develop, and empower the next generation of leaders of liberty.
