AVIRTEK, Inc. Awarded $750k Phase II SBIR from the United States Air Force Research Laboratory

TUCSON, Ariz. - July 18, 2016 - PRLog -- On July 10, 2016 AVIRTEK was selected for an SBIR Phase II award with the U.S. Air Force Research laboratory ($750,000 over 24 months) for its Phase II proposal entitled "Autonomic Monitoring, Analysis, and Protection (AMAP) System".

"In Phase I, we developed a methodology for identifying malicious files that could be in a directory of files, or files downloaded from the internet, perform anomaly behavior analysis to detect the maliciousness of these files, and determine a File Trust Index (FTI) for each file. ", said Dr. Salim Hariri, CEO and Founder of AVIRTEK.

In contrast to static, manual and labor intensive, heuristic analysis, and control and management approaches, The AMAP technology to be developed during Phase II is a paradigm shift based on autonomic computing principle inspired by human nervous systems. The salient features of this paradigm are its capabilities to deliver

1.       Integrated monitoring, analysis, and management solutions that are required to develop the proposed AMAP framework to allow cyber-infrastructure reasoning that is required to achieve self-diagnostic and self-managed systems.;

2.       Prediction of system operations and behaviors that uses data mining, information theory, and statistical techniques to aggregate and correlate monitored features to detect and predict accurately any anomalous behavior that might have been triggered by attacks, faults and/or accidents or disasters; and

3.      Automated management solutions that will lead to significant operational cost reduction and will also provide timely responses to anomalous events to stop and/or prevent rapid propagation of attacks/faults and mitigate their impacts on normal system operations and services.
