4th Annual Community Health & Wellness Back 2 School Festival

WASHINGTON - July 27, 2016 - PRLog -- The Greater Washington Urban League in partnership with Thurgood Marshall Center Trust, Inc. (TMCT) and Trusted Health Plan (THP), is hosting its 4^th Annual Community Health and Wellness Back to School Festival.  The festival will be held on Saturday, August 6^th, 11:00am to 3:00pm at Thurgood Marshall Center for Service and Heritage, 1816 12^th St., NW, Washington, DC20009.  Local performing artist Reesa Renee is set to return as host of the festival for the 2^nd year in a row.

The festival is FREE and Open to the Public and is expected to have over 1,000 area residents in attendance.

Trusted Health Plan will provide health screenings, including; Lead, Vision, Dental, Blood Pressure, HIV and more. They will also provide health information for parents and provide an opportunity for residents to enroll in health plans. Pediatric dental screenings will be provided by Howard University College of Dentistry's Pediatric Clinic.  We will have safe food handling demonstrations by USDA and Healthy Eating Cooking demonstrations by City Weeds.

We will also distribute fruits and vegetables provided by Capital Area Food Bank. The event will feature live music provided by DJ Curley Sue, food, sno-cones, raffles, entertainment, and fun activities for kids including a moon bounce and face painting.  With the generous contributions of our community partners; the league will be giving away free backpacks stuffed with school supplies, free haircuts and hairstyles for kids provided by Hair Academy New Carrollton.  Schedule children's FREE Health Screening with your managed care provider (see flyer for details).  The festival will be fun and informative for the whole family!
