Follow on Google News | 4th Annual Community Health & Wellness Back 2 School FestivalGreater Washington Urban League in Partnership with Thurgood Marshall Center Trust, Inc. and Trusted Health Plan Hosts
By: Greater Washington Urban League (GWUL) The festival is FREE and Open to the Public and is expected to have over 1,000 area residents in attendance. Trusted Health Plan will provide health screenings, including; Lead, Vision, Dental, Blood Pressure, HIV and more. They will also provide health information for parents and provide an opportunity for residents to enroll in health plans. Pediatric dental screenings will be provided by Howard University College of Dentistry's Pediatric Clinic. We will have safe food handling demonstrations by USDA and Healthy Eating Cooking demonstrations by City Weeds. We will also distribute fruits and vegetables provided by Capital Area Food Bank. The event will feature live music provided by DJ Curley Sue, food, sno-cones, raffles, entertainment, and fun activities for kids including a moon bounce and face painting. With the generous contributions of our community partners; the league will be giving away free backpacks stuffed with school supplies, free haircuts and hairstyles for kids provided by Hair Academy New Carrollton.
