MAKATI CITY, Philippines - July 28, 2016 - PRLog -- SME Entrepreneur Receives Six Sigma Certification, Saves Business P100k a Year

MAKATI CITY, Philippines
-  Jasmine Apolinario, entrepreneur and owner of Jasmine's Laundry Shop based in Thaddeus St. MRV Pasig City, earned her Six Sigma Green Belt Certification last July 22, 2016, last day of Six Sigma Philippines' 17th Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification Program for Service Industry.  Jasmine shared the highs and lows of her project, how she addressed the roadblocks, and inspired the graduating Green Belt Class to complete their projects to get certified.

To be certified in Six Sigma, one has to complete an actual Six Sigma project and apply process improvement tools, methodology and techniques learned in class.  "That's one reason why companies give high value for Certified Six Sigma individuals.  One does not just attend a program and receive his certification, but has to successfully apply  and show proper use of tools and methodology with actual work processes.  One has to earn his Six Sigma certification," Rex Tuozo, Master Black Belt of Six Sigma Philippines said.  "If you attend our Six Sigma programs, unlike other training providers, you get continuous support after the program, for no additional cost.  You'll be assigned a Black Belt to help you complete your project," Tuozo added.

The goal of Jasmine's project is to reduce the number of days not meeting their target output of 40kgs from 73% to 33% in 5 months.  "Data collection was our first challenge.  As a small business, we're not used to identify and measure KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)," Jasmine noted.  After implementing process improvement tools and the DMAIC methodology, the number of days not meeting target output of 40kgs was significantly reduced from 73% to 4%.  The cycle time from tagging to folding was reduced from 6.61 hours to 1.32 hours.  The number of KGs received (capacity) increased by 29.53%, and a projected annualized cost savings of P112,752.00 attributed to action items including new formulation of laundry detergent, revised schedule of washing and lower consumption of water.

"I love to learn.  I had been wanting to attend a Six Sigma class years back and I'm glad I attended Rex's program.  He made Six Sigma practical and effective,"  Jasmine said in her testimonial.
"To the graduating Six Sigma Green Belts, 'Tenacity' is one of the most important trait of a Six Sigma professional.  Always keep that eagerness, that fire, that desire to bring positive change in your organizations.  The Six Sigma certification is just an icing on the cake," Jasmine added.

Jasmine's Laundry Shop is located at #23 Thaddeus St. MRV, Pasig City.  0917-914-5437 & 0938-176-2478.
