By: Solar Innovations® Architectural Glazing Systems Office team members can dress casually for the month with a donation of $25 or more. Once the month is complete, Solar Innovations® The Schuylkill United Way holds their annual Stuff the Bus supply drive starting every July. Using monetary donations, the United Way purchases and stuffs backpacks with school supplies that are delivered to their partner agencies who serve children. The remaining backpacks are then offered to the greater community. During their 2015 drive over 1,200 backpacks were donated to children in need. Every backpack is stuffed with essential school supplies, including pens, pencils, eraser, binders, folders, notebooks, rulers, crayons, and markers. The Solar Cares campaign launched in October of 2015, for the inaugural fundraiser, team members raised over $1,700 for the Breast Cancer Research Fund at the Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute in Hershey, PA. In December 2015 the team participated in the Adopt-a-Family program, providing presents for a local family with five children ages 1 to 12. Gifts from the family's wish list were purchased by individual team members in addition to the $1,700 raised by the team. This money was used to purchase additional toys, food, and various other items for the family. Of this amount, $500 was donated to the Salvation Army Corporation in Pottsville, PA.
