The topic of discussion was 'Experiential Learning through Innovative Teaching Methods'.
By: IBS Business School Event was initiated by a welcome note from Mrs Rakhi Gupta and then Prof Sangeeta Shahane, of IBS Gurgaon convened the program. While addressing she advised the participants to focus on knowing the student as an adult learner in order to teach through Innovative methods which primarily involve high level of participation from students. While talking to about Experiential Learning through Innovative Teaching Method She said, "The teaching in Experiential Learning is done through various task based activities and is highly beneficial because it engages the learners in the process of acquiring knowledge and also helps in enhancing employability skills such communication skills, team work, time management and analytical skills." She said that adult learner is self directed, brings years of previous knowledge and experience and has a problem centered approach to learning. Prof Shahane categorically told the participants that while planning an activity based session for the class, the teacher should use 'visual, aural and kinesthetic' learning styles and should ensure that time for 'debriefing' is kept aside in the plan. Debriefing is an important part of 'Experiential Learning'.
