Follow on Google News | NACRC Holds Joint Conference with IACREOT in Memphis, TennBy: NACRC The joint conference was a celebration of the NACRC/IACREOT merger beginning September 1, 2016, where they will form a new organization: During the conference, NACRC and IACREOT association members elected the inaugural board of IGO. The executive IGO board members were elected as follows: 2nd vice president, Christine "Chris" Walker, clerk, Jackson County, Ore.; secretary, Wayne L. Rash, register of deeds, Caldwell County, N.C.; and Mari Renzelman, chief deputy treasurer, Eagle County, Colo. IGO directors at large were elected as follows: clerks' division, Gerarda Culipher, chief deputy clerk, Fairfax Circuit Court, Va.; recorders' division, Nora Dietzel, recorder of deeds, Boone County, Mo.; election official's division, Ricky Hatch, CPA, county clerk/auditor, Weber County, Utah; treasurers' division, Karla Bagley, treasurer and public trustee, Garfield County, Colo. The delegation directors' chair is Dennis Kobitz, administrator, Union County, N.J. NACRC also issued its final member awards during the joint conference. The Linda S. Carter Award for Excellence in Government was presented to Weber County, Utah., County Clerk/Auditor Ricky Hatch, CPA, for exemplary leadership. In 2016, the NACRC Awards Committee created the Lifetime Achievement Award to honor a person whose contributions were so impactful, notable and important to the history of NACRC that none of the existing awards fit the bill. NACRC was pleased to bestow on Carol Foglesong, assistant comptroller, Orange County, Fla., NACRC's one and forever only Lifetime Achievement Award for exemplifying the best of NACRC during over 25 years in office and over 15 years in NACRC leadership. One county official was recognized for her leadership, ingenuity and excellence in office. The Public Official of the Year Award was presented to Tammy Theusch Beasley, Registrar, New Hanover County Register of Deeds, Wilmington, N.C. Best Practices Awards, which are given to offices as special recognition in honor of their unique achievements and best practices in their respective fields, were given to four county offices. The Records Management Best Practices Award was bestowed upong the Office of the Clerk, Clark County, Nev., for "Low-Cost Tech Innovations Streamline Workflow and Improve Customer Service." The Office of Elections, Weber County, Utah, received the Election Administration Best Practices Award for "Improving Poll Worker Communication and Coordination with Free Technology." Three NACRC members were honored as Certified Public Officials (CPO) and four members received their CPO recertification during the conference.
