MOBILE, Ala. - Aug. 24, 2016 - PRLog -- Mobile Alabama's first and only 501c3 IRS recognized non- profit horse rescue, Dream Acres Equine Sanctuary, has launched a crowdfunding campaign, in an effort to fund the renovation of a rehabilitation barn that will be used for current and future equine residents.

Founded in 2014, Dream Acres Equine Sanctuary rescues neglected, abused, and retired horses and provide them with safe, loving homes, nourishment and veterinary care. Over the past 6 months their primary focus has been on serving the local community. As a result, the organization frequently receives calls from local shelters to take horses they find because these shelters do not have the facilities for horses and mules.

In the last 10 months Dream Acres have rescued more than 60 horses across the East Coast. They have 20 horses in their care at the moment. But it costs them $5,000 a month to feed the horses- not to mention medical care. Of the 20 horses in its care, 11 of them are ready for adoption. Among these horses is a strong, beautiful and friendly Standard bred mare named Cheerio.

Founder and President of the Dream Acres Equine Sanctuary, Ariana Morgan, said: "We focus on healing the whole horse, their emotional needs are just as important as their physical needs. The equine is one of God's creatures and Gulf Coast residents need to be aware of the desperate situations that so many face in our area. Dream Acres is in constant contact with horse owners, who due to various circumstances, can no longer feed or care for the horses. Every week we have surrender requests and we help as many as we can, but we need to public's support. This rehab barn will provide even more opportunities for in need horses in our area. For this reason we have launched this campaign to get as much help as we can to continue our efforts."

In the three years that they have been in operation, Dream Acres has witnessed several success stories. One recent success story is Twiggy, a horse in her late twenties that had severe wounds, a respiratory infection and was quite emaciated when she was rescued. Today, Twiggy is healthy and is fully recovered from her wounds. She will spend the rest of her life at the sanctuary.

Dream Acres Equine Sanctuary is attempting to raise $5,000. They have already secured a facility but it requires repairs, upgrades, and supplies. Consequently, the money will be used for this purpose. At the time of writing this article, the campaign has achieved about half of the goal. The organization desperately needs to start work on the barn and would appreciate any donation amount. Forfurther information visit: http://www.dreamacres.org.
