Follow on Google News | 35th Annual Corvettes at Carlisle Wraps Carlisle Events' Specialty Show SeasonWorld's Largest all-Corvette Themed Weekend Draws Crowds and Cars From Around the World
By: Carlisle Events At 10 a.m. on Thursday it all got underway as the new official day for the show commenced. With special indoor and tent displays in place, droves of Corvettes streamed on grounds in a seemingly non-stop manner through mid-day Saturday. Displays focused on 1966 Corvettes and Chip's Choice honored the best Guldstrand and Greenwood Corvettes. Thursday highlights also included autocross practice runs with the Cumberland Valley Corvette Club and diagnostic sessions with Corvette expert and long time friend of Corvettes at Carlisle, Paul Koerner of The Corvette Mechanic. Sun, fun and Corvettes put smiles on many faces Friday, as day one transitioned into day two. Multiple seminars took place throughout the day as well as autograph sessions with guests like Jerry Palmer, Wil Cooksey, Tadge Juechter, Ken Linginfelter, Team Chevrolet and more. Even better for the Corvette guests, Paul Koerner's associate, Brittany George, hosted a ladies only seminar on overall car care. This offering, much like the Women's Oasis Tent and shuttles to Hershey, was packed! The day wrapped with the burnout contest followed by an exciting VIP dinner benefiting the Chip Miller Amyloidosis Foundation. As Corvettes at Carlisle headed for home, Saturday offered one more full amazing day of Corvette fun. There were two giveaways, including a trip to Nevada and Spring Mountain Motor Resort and Ron Fellows Driving School, plus via the Chip Miller Amyloidosis Foundation and Lancaster County Corvette Club, a brand new Corvette Coupe was given away. Plus, Saturday featured more seminars, more autographs, installs, product walk-arounds and the always popular Ms. Corvettes at Carlisle beauty contest. Saturday also hosted a record of sorts, as some 500 Corvettes packed the streets of downtown Carlisle for the annual Downtown Carlisle Association Corvette Parade and Street Party. This showcase is a well established part of the show and is a way to bring a wide array of Corvettes to the people of Carlisle who may not be able to make it to the show. The 500 car turnout was the biggest ever in the history of the parade. Corvettes at Carlisle 2016 officially concluded sometime after 2 p.m. on Sunday the 28th as the final day hosted autocross and awards; lots of them! 2016 awards included those from the NCRS, multiple club awards, the celebrity choice awards parade and the NCCC presentation. In all, the event was a success, with every year of Corvette represented on the Fun Field and generations of enthusiasts from around the world. Save the date, because Corvettes at Carlisle is already planning for 2017's show, which runs August 24-27. End
