Ambridge Churches Rooted Deep in Heritage

AMBRIDGE, Pa. - Aug. 29, 2016 - PRLog -- The Ambridge Borough and the Ambridge Regional Chamber of Commerce, Community Outreach & Tourism Committees are co-sponsoring a local community event, the Ambridge Fall Festival of the Churches. This festival will celebrate the rich history of the founding fathers of Old Economy and the diversified collections of the 20 ethnic churches found in Ambridge's religious community.

The three part festival will begin on Friday, September 23rd with a 3 hour Historical Church Bus Tour of 4 local Churches to include St John Lutheran, St. Mary Coptic Orthodox, St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox and St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic. Registration 6:00 pm at Trinity School for Ministry, 311 11^th Street, Ambridge. Tour 6:30pm – 9:30pm. Highlights include an Old Economy 'Harmonist" escort and Parish guides sharing stories rich in Ambridge history. Complimentary refreshment provided by Trinity School for Ministry follow. 9:30 -10:00pm. Tickets Cost: $10.00 pp. Limited quantity sold: 100 Tickets. Tour is handicap accessible.

Saturday, September 24^th, 10am, Ambridge Parish Parade featuring local parishioners and nonprofit organizations. Parade routed along Merchant Street. Highlights will include Ambridge High School Marching Band, Old Economy Village Float and the Good Will Ambassador Finalists. Parade will end at PJ Caul Park, 11th and Merchant Street.

Saturday, September 24^th, PJ Caul Park Gazebo, Opening Ceremony 11:30am-12:00 pm. Highlights include Master of Ceremony, PA State Representative  Rob Matzie and crowning of the Good Will Ambassador, Student Scholarship Awards. "Ringing  of the Bells" will kick off the Ambridge Fall Festival of Churches, 12:00pm-7:00pm. Highlights include family fun day of homemade ethnic food prepared by the participating churches, live ethnic music & dance, community bingo, free children's activities including a petting, zoo, pony rides, face painting, pumpkin painting, storytelling and much more. No Charge. Handicap accessible.

The diversified historical churches of Ambridge, along with Old Economy Village, founded by the Harmony Society in 1824, creates a unique, woven tapestry of history that reflects the heritage of its people and plays a vital role in its future.  Currently, Ambridge is home to twenty active churches and boasts one of the largest religious communities per square miles in the entire USA. The Ambridge Fall Festival of the Churches is a new event to celebrate, honor and showcase its religious community and heritage.
