Bisnar Chase's H. Gavin Long Wins OCTLA's Top Gun Personal Injury Trial Lawyer of the Year

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - Aug. 30, 2016 - PRLog -- The Orange County Trial Lawyers Association (OCTLA) has named H. Gavin Long Top Gun Trial Lawyer of the Year for personal injury law. According to the organization's website, Long is one of five Orange County lawyers to receive this distinction and the only attorney to be honored in the "personal injury" category.

Each year, OCTLA honors top trial attorneys in Orange County who have not only shown exceptional courtroom skills, but have also set high ethical standards. According to the organization's website, OCTLA's annual Top Gun Trial Lawyer of the Year Awards Program bestows this honor on less than 1 percent of Orange County's lawyers who have shown "exceptional trial skills, commitment to their clients and dedication to the principles of legal ethics and preserving access to the civil justice system."

These are also attorneys who have obtained outstanding results on behalf of the clients they represented. The five top trial lawyers will be recognized and celebrated during a special evening Nov. 19 at the Island Hotel in Newport Beach.

"This is a tremendous honor not only for me personally, but also our entire trial team and staff at Bisnar Chase," Long said.

It is a significant honor to receive this award in the personal injury category, he said. Long has had a tremendous track record of success during his time at Bisnar Chase since April 2012. He has handled a number of auto accident cases, taking several of those to a jury trial and winning an overwhelming majority of those cases. He has helped clients secure millions of dollars in total recovery.

Most recently, he secured $3 million in a pedestrian accident where the client was offered just the policy limit -- $100,000. Long took the case to a jury trial despite the fact that the police faulted the pedestrian. Long says what he absolutely relishes about the process is fighting and winning against large corporations on behalf of the little guy, who otherwise wouldn't have a chance. The challenge personal injury lawyers face on a daily basis is to ensure that individuals and corporations follow the law, Long says.

He particularly relishes his battles on behalf of clients against insurance companies, which play hardball and often resist paying injured victims what they rightfully deserve.

"It gives me immense satisfaction when I expose insurance companies and their tricks," he said. "People are always surprised to find out that the insurance company is not really their friend, especially in a time of need. And what I do makes a difference in people's lives. Fighting for what's right and winning – that's really the biggest reward."

Long graduated from the University of Southern California in 1996 and from Whittier Law School in 1999. He was a recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award for securing the highest grades in his study of Torts and Evidence. Long was appointed to the Consumer Attorneys of California's (CAOC) Board of Governors and sits on the Board of Directors for the Orange County Trial Lawyers Association. He was also admitted as a member into the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), an honor bestowed only on the top 1 percent of the nation's attorneys.
