Elizabeth Williams-Riley Honored with New Brunswick Area NAACP Corporate Community Service Award

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. - Aug. 30, 2016 - PRLog -- The New Brunswick Area Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NBAB NAACP) will pay tribute to the American Conference on Diversity's President & CEO Elizabeth Williams-Riley. On Saturday, October 8, she will receive this year's Corporate Diversity Community Service Award at the annual Freedom Fund Luncheon.

"This is such a wonderful honor coming from the oldest social justice organization in our country! I am so humbled to receive this recognition," says Ms. Williams-Riley. "I do this work not for awards and accolades, but for the desire to make this society a better place for all of us – not just some of us."

The NBAB NAACP's executive committee selection was based on Ms. Williams-Riley's important and passionate community service work locally and nationally in the area of promoting tolerance and diversity. "We also realize that you would not be able to function so well if you did not have a deep personal commitment to serving others," states NBAB NAACP President Bruce Morgan and Freedom Fund Luncheon Chairperson Diane Hawkins.

This year's Freedom Fund Luncheon, "Our Lives Matter. Our Votes Count," will be held at the First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens (771 Somerset Street/Route 27, Somerset, NJ 08873) from 11:15 am to 3:00 pm. The keynote speaker is Richard T. Smith, President of the New Jersey State Conference of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and a well-known human-rights activist.

In addition to honoring Ms. Williams-Riley with the Corporate Community Service Award, the following individuals and organizations will be recognized:

• Ashton Burrell (New Brunswick Area Branch President's Award)

Luncheon tickets are $65 for adults and $30 for youth under 18. Tickets purchased by September 16th will receive a $5 discount and cost $60. Supporting this event enables the NBAB NAACP to award scholarships to deserving graduating high school seniors from Middlesex and Somerset counties, and allows the organization to continue to serve the community.
