Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas Wins 2016 Small Publisher of the Year

RALEIGH, N.C. - Sept. 9, 2016 - PRLog -- At the 2016 Greater Philadelphia Christian Writers Conference in August, Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas was named Small Publisher of the Year during closing ceremonies. Director Marlene Bagnull cited LPC's commitment to helping debut authors and its willingness to publish titles that deal with controversial issues. As one example, Bagnall cited Rob Cook's teen devotionals, Regener8 and Illumin8 - both of which are aimed at homeless teens, gang members, and unchurched youth.

"I appreciate the recognition," CEO Eddie Jones says. "As our authors know, releasing a book is a  team effort. It starts with the author. Hopefully an author with a servant's heart. But it's the managing editor, general editor, and proofreaders that make a book great."

LPC releases around forty titles a year -- most written by new authors. "From the beginning, our desire was to launch careers," Jones says. "We're not interested in locking up an author to a long-term publishing deal. In fact, if we do our job well, the author leaves LPC after their first book and signs with a larger house."

Jones cited one LPC author who began her with LPC and recently received a book contract from a large New York publisher.

"They offered a lucrative contract with a five figure advance. I'd mention the name of the hosue, but her agent is still negotiating the terms. Her book has done well for us. Sort of put her on the map, so to speak. I have no doubt she'll sell thousands of copies for this publisher, because she has the right heart. She works at her craft, believes in her writing, and appreciates her editors."
