By: Saint Monica University According to Professor Januarius Jingwa (JJ) Asongu, President and Chief Executive Officer of SMU, "Deans are responsible for all facets of leadership and management of the unit. Among the highest priorities are developing, inspiring, and supporting the success of School members, including faculty, staff, and of course our students, and leading by example through national leadership roles and deep engagement with local and global communities. Meanwhile, reporting to the Deans of the various Schools, the Chairs will be responsible for the administration of the department and its programs. Faculty members are expected to be teacher/scholars engaged in productive scholarship, committed to excellence in teaching and learning, committed to professional service, and have experience with, or interest in, working in diverse academic and professional communities. The ability to contribute to a positive work environment in the department, college, and University is also expected as well as a strong orientation to recruiting, advising, retaining, and mentoring qualified students." For the School of Arts, Education and Humanities, the following have been appointed: 1) Dean: Dr. Emmanuel Lukong Tani (PhD Educational Psychology) 2) Chair – Department of Arts & Humanities: Dr. Mbella Ngomba-Maija (PhD Communication) 3) Chair – Department of Education: Dr. Asangha Ngufor Muki (PhD Educational Psychology) For the School of Business and Public Policy, the following have been appointed: 4) Dean: Prof. Scott Grant Eckert (DBA Marketing) 5) Chair – Department of Business Administration: 6) Chair – Department of Public Administration: For the School of Health and Human Services, the following have been appointed: 7) Dean: Prof. Sylvester Ndeso Atanga (PhD Public Health) 8) Acting Chair – Department of Allied Health Sciences: Peter Njem (PhD [ABD] Biochemistry) 9) Acting Chair – Department of Applied Health Sciences: Arnold Achancho (PhD [ABD] Health Science) For the School of Science, Engineering and Technology, the following have been appointed: 10) Dean: Prof. Antony Jacob M. Kinyua (PhD Chemistry, MS Nuclear Science) 11) Acting Chair – Department of Applied Sciences: Mr. Emmanuel Oben Njock (MSc Agribusiness) 12) Acting Chair – Department of Engineering & Technology: Mr. Stanislus N.
