INDEPENDENCE, Iowa - Sept. 10, 2016 - PRLog -- The rain storm approached and stayed for awhile in Independence, Iowa during Friday night's game between the Independence Mustangs playing at home...against Waverly-Shell Rock. The Indee Mustangs were coming off a much improved game last week, but the weather and a storm of more injuries didn't help their season turnaround. The Indee Mustangs started off hot with some nice roll out pass completions....then the rain, thunder and lightening came. The game play was delayed for about 40 miniutes or so...then the teams took the field to pick up where they left off.

Perhaps the weather delay stopped the Mustangs momentum of good energy as Waverly-Shell Rock was able to put together some quick scoring drives after the weather break. However, the Independence Mustangs defense once again created fumbles and interceptions to give their offense a chance. The Indee offense has talent and once they hold onto the ball and give their defense a rest...this team has all the ability to still have a winning season. This team doesn't quit, but eventually the breaks will bounce their way...and when they do...they need to take advantage of them and score. It is still early in the season...and there is plenty of good football left. This team is mending from injuries and is rebuilding in some aspects, but expect this team to keep fighting all year long. The Final of this one was Waverly-Shell Rock 54, Independence - 0.
