Se Habla Español Art Exhibit Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

SAINT PETERSBURG, Fla. - Sept. 12, 2016 - PRLog -- Artist John Gascot is hard at work in his Pinellas Park studio (Latin Pop Shop) creating the artworks that will comprise his upcoming solo exhibit at The Studios at 5663. Se Habla Español will feature bold and colorful visual narratives, many of which will be inspired by the sights, sounds and flavors of his native Puerto Rico. A number of paintings will also explore cultural identity from the viewpoint of an island-born Latino artist living in the US. John's signature style, "Latin Pop" combines Pop and Folk art styles with a healthy dose of whimsy and tongue-in-cheek social commentary. "With these paintings I want to share with the community a taste and understanding of my culture, and my personal journey from island to stateside urban life." John says. He hopes the exhibit will entertain and educate. "Now, more than ever, given the current political and social climate, we need to celebrate our cultural differences and share information with one another in positive and uplifting ways."

The exhibit will run from September 20 until October 15, 2016. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, September 24, 6-9 pm during Pinellas Park's 4^th Saturday Art Walk. The reception and art walk are free and open to the public. Mr. Gascot will conduct a brief Artist Talk about the work at 7 pm.
