By: IntegraCare The Colonial Courtyard at Bedford group was among 30 teams and 267 participants who helped surpass the set fund-raising goal during the September 10 event. Colonial Courtyard Bedford donated more than $1,700 to the Alzheimer's Association. A large portion of the donation was raised during a Western Day chicken barbecue event held in June at the senior living community in Bedford. Overall, the Lakemont Park event raised $35,234.81, which was better than the initial goal set at $33,500, according to the Walk to End Alzheimer's/ "It was a great day for a great cause," said Nanette Bankes, Activities Coordinator at Colonial Courtyard at Bedford and part of the team during the 2-mile Walk. Bobbi Howsare, Director of Sales and Marketing, was captain of Colonial Courtyard at Bedford's six-member team in the Walk. Colonial Courtyard at Bedford's team also had an opportunity to walk with a team from Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone, another senior living community operated by IntegraCare. Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone's team raised more than $1,000 during the Walk to End Alzheimer's. "We at Colonial Courtyard at Bedford were honored to participate in such an important event to address a cause that is very important to our community," Howsare said. "It was great to share the experience with our friends at Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone.
