Third Annual FANtastic Horror Film Festival hits Downtown San Diego

SAN DIEGO - Oct. 4, 2016 - PRLog -- The third annual FANtastic Horror Film Festival will once again be delighting horror fans in San Diego CA this Halloween weekend. The fest takes place on October 28-30, and shows the very best in independent horror from all over the world. This year's program showcases 39 films. All the films are first run, and the diversity gives every horror fan exactly what he or she wants. According to Festival Director JoAnn Thomas the thing that sets FANtastic Horror Film festival apart is "We are a fan first fest. We give the fans what they want. All our films run on time every time, there are no changes to our schedule, and no scheduling surprises for fans or filmmakers. Everyone knows exactly when every film plays."

In addition to showing these top quality independent films, the festival also features a seminar for filmmakers and an awards ceremony.

The seminar entitled, "How to Get Your Film Distributed," will be moderated by festival director Mike Thomas, and features publicists/producers Matt Chassin and Marie Lemelle and film critic and festival judge Cindy Mich. Filmmakers will learn basics needed to catch the eye of distributors, various techniques for attaining top production value without spending a fortune and how building a buzz for film helps filmmakers attain better distribution deals.


The festival gives out over 30 awards each year. The awards range from the usual "best feature film"' "best actor" type of awards to "scariest monster" "best death scene" and "best zombie film" awards found only at this festival. The film also gives a special award recognizing "excellence in horror." The award named for the great Lon Cheney, is presented to one lucky genre star annually, by the Cheney family. The awards ceremony is a great time where fans, filmmakers and stars all hob nob in a true spirit of friendship and comradery. This year the ceremony is hosted by scream queen Sara Barrett.

The films and seminar will be presented at the UltraStar Mission Valley Cinemas, 7510 Hazard Center Drive, San Diego CA 92108. The Awards Ceremony takes place on Sunday night October 30 "precisely at 9pm" at Mc Fadden's 731 5th Avenue San Diego CA 91201.
