Eurotech announces ESF Release 4.0

AMARO, Italy - Oct. 5, 2016 - PRLog -- Eurotech a leading provider of embedded systems, Machine-to-Machine (M2M) platforms and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, announces the official release of Everyware Software Framework (ESF) (http://www.eurotech.com/en/products/software+services/everyware+software+framework) Release 4.0, a commercial, enterprise-ready edition of Eclipse Kura, the open source Java/ OSGi middleware for IoT multi-service gateways and smart devices.

ESF provides a secure execution environment for embedded applications and a secure, reliable and optimized communication system for data and remote device management. By additionally supporting x.509 certificates, ESF provides strong mutual authentication between devices and remote servers and IoT cloud platforms, and ensures that only properly signed a verified application code is deployed and executed on the devices.

ESF (http://www.eurotech.com/en/products/software+services/everyware+software+framework) offers a simple and productive Java/OSGi development environment of applications for IoT gateways. Java and OSGi combine to facilitate application development and modularization of software components, which assures interoperability of apps and services between different devices. ESF enables wide, deep, seamless integration of applications with the operating system (Linux) and the hardware (devices), while providing full programming flexibility.

In the ESF 4.0 Release, customers will find a number of major enhancements:

·       Multiple Cloud Connections - A single gateway can be simultaneously connected to multiple cloud platforms including Eurotech Everyware Cloud^™, and other IoT platforms such as Amazon AWS IoT, Oracle IoT Cloud Service, Microsoft^® Azure IoT and IBM Watson IoT Platform.

·       Wi-Fi Dual Mode Support - Support for Wi-Fi wireless modules that can operate simultaneously as an access point and as a station.

·       Support for Terminal Server/Client - Allows the remote access and configuration of a gateway's serial port using a TCP connection.

ESF is fully supported across the Eurotech's IoT gateway family and other hardware platforms. With ESF Release 4.0, the support has been extended to the recently announced ReliaGATE 20-25 (http://www.eurotech.com/en/products/ReliaGATE%2020-25), a powerful IoT gateway for industrial and lightly rugged applications.
