The aim of this programme is to assist in promoting healthy eating. It will also afford participants the opportunity to have free breast cancer, blood pressure, sugar level and BMI tests and screening. Our belief, which is an element of this approach, supports the knowledge that early detection is a great tool to fight and survive cancer. If those who were diagnosed of cancer at a later stage had prior knowledge of the availability of cancer detection screening, they would have been able to access early treatment and would have a huge chance at being survivors. Essentially, this is why the initiative of "Eat and Screen" has been considered and adopted. Our primary aim is to promote healthy eating and regular screening across genders in our society. As we know, October is the awareness month for Breast cancer- therefore, we have seized this as an opportunity to sensitize the public on the importance of healthcare and regular medical screenings. This exercise will help create awareness for the fight against Cancer and increase the consciousness among Nigerians, especially the younger population. It will also help to reduce cancer related burdens and its consequent death rate in our society. Stand Up To Cancer Nigeria has consistently held free screening exercises at the Silverbird Galleria in Lagos and Abuja with impressive turnouts. We look forward to Nigerians turning out en masse for the October 2016 edition. Stand Up To Cancer Nigeria is a leading youth-based cancer advocacy group. It is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing essential medical information for people affected by or concerned about cancer. At Stand Up To Cancer Nigeria, we help individuals and families understand, interpret and act upon the most reliable and recent breast cancer information – including all of the latest research-- so they can make the best decisions for their lives. We also conduct cancer screenings as a way of outreach and in our clinic.
