Toronto rapper Shah slams gender wage gap in new video 'Pay Day 71'

Toronto rapper Shah releases new music video for "Pay Day 71"

TORONTO - Oct. 23, 2016 - PRLog -- Toronto rapper Shah's fourth installment in his cinematic music video series Pay Day 71 was released on October 11th, 2016. The music video can be checked out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIlCZ4gDR_8

The Pay Day 71 video will be the fourth installment in Shah's audiovisual series and as always his lyrics and his visuals are filled with subtle social and political commentary. Shah's music and music video series that is following his entire artistic career is filled with subtle commentary on social inequalities such as the gender wage gap, police-brutality, and ISIS. Pay Day 71, refers to the inequality women face, earning on average only 71 cents to the dollar a man earns.

As stated by Brownie Marie at AXS who premiered the trailer, "these topics can be covered as effortlessly as popping bottles and making it rain." Shah identifies as a feminist and hopes to spread this message through his music; his ability to artistically delivery his message so audiences don't feel they're being preached to, combined with his acknowledgement of his own hypocrisies, have been pointed to as reasons for Shah's emergence amongst mainstream audiences that have traditionally rejected more 'conscious' artists.

Shah has shunned lucrative mainstream opportunities in order to make music that genuinely touches his fans. Shah's independent nature makes the success he's experienced since his May 2016 debut all the more impressive. Despite lacking any sort of promotion, Shah's lead single Don't Do It Mandela's video amassed six figure views at a viral rate. His July release of Ridin Shotty With God, was streamed by an even larger audience, which was unexpected given the song's lyrical complexity and political content.

Brownie went on to say that Shah's ""Day of Shah" music video series increases in popularity with each installment, garnering more fans for the already acclaimed artist. Shah has consistently been ranked one of Toronto's best new artists, and was recently called  one of the World's Top 10 Desi Rappers. Despite these accolades, Shah remains humble and hungry, proclaiming "This is just Day One."
