By: Charles Silano "Our entire community is touched by addiction in one way or another," said Open Door founder Charles Silano. The gala is a chance for everyone in the community to become part of the solution. When we heal the addict, we heal the family and in turn we heal the community. The evening will include a welcome by harpist Alana Fitzgerald where guests will mingle and enjoy the elegant ambiance of the resort, followed by dinner in the Atlantic Ballroom during which guests will be entertained by the smooth Jazz sounds of vocalist Linda Cole and saxophonist Pat D'Aguanno. The evening will also include an informative and inspiring program about Open Door's Christian-based efforts to help Flagler County residents overcome addiction. The ticket price for the gala is $100. Sponsorship opportunities include: $3000 Presenting Sponsors, $2000 Premier Sponsors, $1000 Grand Sponsors and $750 Community Sponsors. All sponsorships and donations of any amount are appreciated. For information on how to purchase tickets, become a sponsor, or make a donation, please contact Pastor Charles Silano at (386) 931-4158, or visit http://www.opendoorrecovery.info. Open Door started in 2013 and currently operates one residential addiction treatment facility in Bunnell, through which nine men are served annually. A second home, which is in need of substantial renovations, has recently been purchased. Donations are needed to help Open Door transform this home into the county's first residential addiction treatment home for women. Silano also has plans to open a third site, which would expand the men's program. "It's important to keep the number of residents in each house limited to between 6 and 12 in order to build community. Our program works because we are faith-based and we maintain a family atmosphere." "Just like any family, we need the support of the community. The addict cannot be isolated. He needs to feel the support of the community and be reintegrated into society to remove the stigma of addiction." Silano said that citizens can support the mission by attending the gala, becoming a sponsor or helping in other ways. "We need volunteers to serve as mentors, tutors and in other capacities. We need builders and tradesmen to help with the facilities. Employers are needed for our participants and graduates. If you want to be part of the solution, there is a role for you. When you heal the one...you heal so many." For further information please visit opendoorrecovery.info. End
