Families Gather for National Family Stories Month

AUSTIN, Texas - Nov. 1, 2016 - PRLog -- Mike O'Krent, founder of LifeStories Alive, has recorded hundreds of personal histories on DVD for more than 10 years. And he believes family history stories are the fabric of societies, which need to be recorded for future generations to enjoy and learn from.

"Personal life histories, or LifeStories, are invaluable for future generations," O'Krent said. "It is not just because stories endear us to our loved ones. LifeStories also give reasons as to why we are who we are."

November is National Family Stories Month, and O'Krent is a proponent of storytelling. Ever since 2006, O'Krent has dedicated his life to helping people share their untold stories.

"Even close family members often tell me, 'I never knew that about my father or mother,'" O'Krent said. "It's not because they are keeping secrets from us; we just don't think to ask the questions that invite those stories."

LifeStories Alive is Mike O'Krent's company, which exists for the sole purpose of making sure family stories remain for generations to come.
