Since that time, we have evolved into a nationally-recognized sports-based youth development organization serving middle school and high school students from low-income communities, teens in public schools and juvenile detention, and individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities. Most Row New York participants row out of the World's Fair Boathouse on Meadow Lake in Queens or the Peter Jay Sharp boathouse on the Harlem River in Manhattan. In spring 2016, the organization launched its third program location at the Paerdegat Basin in Canarsie, Brooklyn. Each year, Row New York serves approximately 230 student-athletes from under-resourced communities in our year-round middle and high school programs. In addition, the organization offers programming for 1,500 teens in public schools and juvenile detention centers, and for 300 individuals with disabilities. As Row New York student-athletes learn stroke technique and build strength and fitness, they develop the confidence and endurance to push beyond their personal limits. Row New York's fitness and academic programs empower youth to become strong, healthy, competitive athletes, and curious, highly motivated students with a love of learning and a capacity for realizing their full potential.
