SAN PEDRO, Calif. - Nov. 16, 2016 - PRLog -- Every nonprofit relies on a strong network of supporters and Valero is one of the strongest – giving, since 2004, $725,000 in direct and United Way support to grow and expand Boys & Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor (BGCLAH) programs. Today, BGCLAH kids and staff celebrated Valero's latest $50,000 investment with a check presentation in the gymnasium of BGCLAH's main Clubhouse in San Pedro.

For more than 12 years, Valero has supported BGCLAH's programs for youth across the Los Angeles Harbor area with much needed monetary and volunteer support. In August, dozens of Valero volunteers partnered with United Way of Greater Los Angeles to redecorate BGCLAH's Wilmington Club program rooms. In addition to volunteering this summer, Valero has played a key role in growing programs at BGCLAH including early literacy, STEM, the arts and College Bound, BGCLAH's flagship program.

"Valero has been a tremendous partner for well over a decade. We have seen tremendous growth during that time and we're serving more youth thanks in part to their continuing and generous support," said BGCLAH Executive Director Mike Lansing. "Valero has been key in making us the Club we are today – for that commitment we are truly grateful."

"Valero is dedicated to the success of our communities," said Steve Faichney, director of public and government affairs for Valero. "The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor, especially its College Bound program, is a beacon giving kids the pathway to a college education, which can transform their lives – we are happy to continue our investment in their success."

Valero's latest contribution is thanks to the 2016 Valero Texas Open and Benefit for Children Golf Classic. With proceeds from the tournament, Valero is distributing a total of $260,000 of the tournament's proceeds to 12 youth serving organizations in the harbor area including BGCLAH.
