RSM Congratulates Mackenzie Hughes on Winning the 2016 RSM Classic

 
CHICAGO - Nov. 22, 2016 - PRLog -- RSM US LLP (RSM) – the nation's leading provider of audit, tax and consulting services focused on the middle market, and title sponsor of The RSM Classic – congratulates  PGA TOUR Professional Mackenzie Hughes, on his win of the 2016 RSM Classic!

Hughes was named winner of the 2016 RSM Classic, following an exciting five-way playoff Sunday afternoon, which ultimately led to a four-man sudden death playoff today. This was the largest playoff on the PGA TOUR since Alex Cejka won a five-man playoff in Puerto Rico in 2015.

Hughes is a Canadian golfer, born in Dundas, Ontario, who is quickly becoming one of the top professional golfers out of Canada. He is a former member of the Golf Canada National Team. He represented Canada at the 2011 and 2012 World Team Amateur Championship and is a two-time Canadian Amateur Champion. He is a graduate of Kent State University. This is his first PGA TOUR.

"Through this year's Birdies Fore Love program, thousands of RSM partners, employees, clients and friends donated to charitable organizations in 86 cities nationwide. With a match from the RSM US Foundation, we were able to give $1.5 million to deserving organizations this year – bringing the grand total raised through the tournament to nearly $7 million to date."

An addition this year was a $10,000 check presentation from RSM to Folds of Honor. "We are honored to have Folds of Honor as part of this year's RSM Classic," said Bill Gorman, chief operating officer for RSM US LLP. "As the child of a military family, I have a unique appreciation for the sacrifces made not only by those who serve but also by their families. I am pleased that we have been able to raise funds to support the families of those who have been injured or lost their lives in service to our country."

The 2016 RSM Classic included a concert by country music singing sensation Cole Swindell, which attracted thousands of fans, and a golf clinic for children, hosted by Southeast Georgia Health System. Other highlights included Youth Day; and a putting contest with RSM leaders, PGA TOUR professionals (including Chesson Hadley, Patton Kizzire, Scott Langley and others), and participants from Special Olympics and Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeast Georgia. Proceeds from this year's RSM Classic will benefit Special Olympics, the Boys and Girls Club of Southeast Georgia and other national and local charitable organizations aligned with the RSM US Foundation's focus on building tomorrow's middle market leaders by supporting organizations committed to providing a more stable environment for youth in the areas of education, hunger, housing and health.

The 2017 RSM Classic is scheduled for Nov. 13 through Nov. 19, 2017.
