BROADVIEW, Ill. - Nov. 30, 2016 - PRLog -- In an effort to make a difference in the fight against hunger, National Van Lines, Inc. staff donated 1500 pounds of nonperishable food to the Oakbrook Terrace Salvation Army food pantry, hosted at Christ Church of Oak Brook.  Throughout the week-long drive items collected were stored in President and COO, Tim Helenthal's office, hence CAN the COO was born. Working together with Move for Hunger, National Van Lines will benefit the many families that are affected by the insecurity of feeding their families during hard times.

Each year hundreds of families look to the Salvation Army Corp food pantries around the country to help alleviate the hardship of being able to put food on their tables, especially during the holiday season. The most recent government statistics on hunger and poverty show that 43.1 million people (13.5%) were in poverty, including 14.5 million (20%) of children under the age of 18. (Feeding America, 2015)

"I'm really proud of the entire staff coming together to do this for the community. Giving their time and resources is encouraged and supported," says Tim. "Being able to do a community project such as this says a lot about the people of National Van Lines and it was my pleasure to be bumped out of my office because of the abundance of care shown by our staff."

Recognizing the constant fight against hunger in America, National Van Lines, together with many of their agents, come together with Move for Hunger, a non-profit organization that partner with the relocation industry to reduce food waste and fight hunger. Move For Hunger teams up with relocation companies across the country to pick up the unwanted, non-perishable food items from those who are moving and delivers it to local food banks.
