KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Dec. 8, 2016 - PRLog -- DCI is hosting two networking events in Kansas City on Monday, Dec. 12 and Tuesday, Dec. 13 to educate nurses in other specialties and nursing students about the dialysis industry and employment opportunities. Attendees will be able to tour the DCI facility and ask questions of dialysis professionals who have over 100 years cumulative nursing experience.

The first networking event on Monday will be held at DCI Carondelet, 650 Carondelet Drive, from 3:30- 5 p.m. Tuesday's event will be at DCI Rockhill, 6530 Troost Avenue, from 3:30-5 p.m.

"We are excited to speak with nurses and students that want to learn more about nephrology nursing. Often, dialysis is only a brief overview in nursing school, and there's so much to appreciate in this specialty," said Pam Beauford, area operations director for DCI Kansas City. "This is truly an educational event for nurses to explore nephrology as a career path."

Recent data shows that more than 7,880 Missourians are living with kidney failure and will need dialysis or a kidney transplant to survive. To meet this need, DCI operates 21 dialysis facilities and five chronic kidney disease programs (REACH Kidney Care) in Missouri. In 2015, DCI nurses in Missouri provided 123,969 life-sustaining dialysis treatments to their patients.

"Today, 1 in 3 US adults is at risk for kidney disease, so the need for specialized nursing care for kidney-related issues is growing," said Frances Hixson, area operations director for DCI Kansas City. "Because most patients receive dialysis treatment multiple times a week, nephrology nurses get to know their patients. This is a really rewarding profession."

For more information about either event, please call DCI Carondelet at (816) 941-0595 or DCI Rockhill at (816) 363-8228. No RSVP is necessary for either event. For more information about employment opportunities with DCI, please visit www.dciinc.jobs.
