Munich Re: Next Generation Workplace

LONDON - Dec. 15, 2016 - PRLog -- Since 2015, leading reinsurance company, Munich Re, has been working with Computacenter on the planning and implementation of a "fully managed workplace." Transitioning into a managed workplace in part means throwing out the old make-or-buy strategy and replacing it with a new approach of bi-modal IT. It has been Munich Re's goal to transform its business into a next generation workplace, applying a new digitisation strategy to incorporate more mobility into the workplace infrastructure.

Dr. Dirk Heiss, Munich Re's Global Infrastructure Services Officer, explains the process of establishing a new delivery system within the company, "Our primary goal in the transformation and management of workplaces is to increase end-user satisfaction in the course of holistic optimisation. This can only be achieved if we hand the business requirements over to a partner who assumes end-to-end responsibility instead of simply acting as an extended workbench for Munich Re." The three key components in the digitisation process were identified as big data and analytics, collaboration, and bi-modal IT. The reorganisation of the role of IT in particular is key in terms of workplace modernisation and transferring the focus of support of the workplace onto the service provider.

In reviewing his company's collaboration with Computacenter in the digitisation process, Dr. Heiss asserts, "As a service provider, Computacenter has a very good understanding of role-based equipment and operation for employees and, in Digital Me, has also developed a strategy for practically implementing such approaches." Munich Re is seeing a shift in their delivery model that is based on Computacenter's strategic focus on improving end-user satisfaction, which is the cornerstone of the people-based Digital Me approach to digital transformation across the organisation.
