KIRKLAND, Wash. - Dec. 15, 2016 - PRLog -- Estimates by Oceana are that 1/3 of imported seafood is mislabeled.  Oceana's director Beth Lowell stated: "We must continue to build on this important work and expand seafood traceability to include all seafood sold in the U.S. and extend it throughout the entire supply chain"

Increased End to End Traceability:  SIMBA (Specialized Inventory Management with Barcode Accuracy) complies with the requirement of the new law to track seafood that is imported into the US back to its source. SIMBA is a complete tracking and processing system that includes software, hardware, training, and labels.

SIMBA can track and label a variety of seafood products from the source through the processing plant.  The heart of the system is the advanced touchscreen (similar to fast food screens) that allows for rapid production of labels with the pertinent information, including a GS-1 code, and captures product information (weight, size, color, grade) for that carton or bag.  The versatility of the touchscreen allows workers to switch between variable products as they enter the production line. The label information is stored in the SIMBA system and provides management with production reporting, inventory management, traceability, shipping, and more.  The cartons may be accumulated onto a pallet and tracked with a single pallet identifier.

Cutting Edge Logistics    At the time of shipping, the Van Loading feature of SIMBA tracks each carton or pallet onto a specific van.  A Bill of Lading is then produced automatically.  This feature not only saves time in the shipping process, it eliminates disputes with the customer regarding what was actually shipped.

Positive Outcome     Key results from implementing the SIMBA software include increased production speed, the ability to get same day reporting, to produce accurate production reports, to fulfill traceability requirements, to report accurate inventory, professional looking carton and pallet labels, and expedited van loading.
