LOS ANGELES - Dec. 16, 2016 - PRLog -- San Fernando Valley Scorpions Soccer Club's Lekan Gbadamosi credits its recent United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) Northern Division title to
equal parts heart and soul.

It is Gbadamosi and SFV Scorpions SC's first UPSL Northern Division Championship, and one three seasons in the making. But there's still work to be done toward the ultimate goal of a UPSL Championship.

San Fernando Valley Scorpion Soccer Club General Manager and Head Coach Lekan Gbadamosi: "It means a lot for us in the sense that we came from nowhere. We were actually a Sunday league (team) and now we're a semi-pro team trying to find the best talent (and) to bring up the best talent from the San Fernando Valley into the light. It's great to see."

Samuel Wadieh and Ricardo Herrera netted goals as SFV Scorpions staked a 2-0 lead before going on to defeat FC Hasental, 2-1, on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016, at West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade High School.

SFV Scorpions (9-3-4 overall) took 31 points from 16 league games and finished with a plus-20 goal differential.

A few losses in during the middle of the 2016 Fall Season, SFV Scorpions charged up the table with five wins in its last six Northwest Division games.

Team captain William Velasquez, a box-to-box midfielder, was integral in steadying the squad after earlier losses to FC Hasental and Santa Clarita FC.

"We had to learn to play together and stay together, and work hard," Gbadamosi said. "We all, in this game, come from a place where we've worked hard to be where we are today. So let's do that. Let's work hard."

SFV Scorpions SC's first UPSL Playoff game will be announced shortly. It is currently slated for the first or second week of January. Check back to http://www.sanfernandoscorpions.com for news and details.
