ROPE TRICK Wins Three Awards at West Coast Film Festival

LOS ANGELES - Feb. 18, 2017 - PRLog -- The short film "Rope Trick" directed by Kirk Ryde received the Chaplain Short Film Awards for Best Thriller/Horror, Best Actress, and Best Cinematography at the West Coast Film Festival (WCFF) in Malibu, CA .

Recently awarded Best Short Mystery at the Culver City Film Festival, and Honorable Mention at Los Angeles Movie Awards, "Rope Trick" was shot in part at the Magic Castle in Hollywood, and stars actor/magicians Jackson Ridd and Steve Silverman, both performing members of the Magic Castle, and actress Pia Lamberg, who was crowned Miss Finland Universe in 2011 and stars in the TV series SAF3.

"Rope Trick" follows a magician who performs sleight-of-hand magic effects, as he attempts to discover the identity of a mysterious young woman.  But she has a few tricks of her own.  Pia Lamberg received the Best Actress award for her multi-faceted portrayal of Shye, the female lead in the movie.

"I made this film as a stream-of-consciousness exploration of mystery," says Kirk, "as we follow a young man consumed by a compelling and mysterious unknown.  Pia was the perfect actress to portray the many faces of Shye, from innocently inviting to effortlessly frightening."  Adrian Sierkowski received the award for Best Cinematography for his striking images which put the viewer in the mind of the male lead character Jax, played by Jackson Ridd, as he seeks to solve the mystery of Shye.

Kirk Ryde wrote and produced the short film "A Singularity" which was an official selection of fifteen festivals worldwide, winning Best Short Short at the Action On Film Festival and Best Sound Design at the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival Awards.  "I'm very honored by these WCFF awards for 'Rope Trick,'" says Kirk, "and I'm happy to see Pia and Adrian recognized for their invaluable contributions to the movie."
