Garifuna Film Festival Selects Walking While Black: L.O.V.E. Is The Answer As Closing Night Film

SANTA MONICA, Calif. - April 15, 2017 - PRLog -- "WALKING WHILE BLACK: L.O.V.E. Is The Answer" has been selected as the closing night film for the prestigious Garifuna International Indigenous Film Festival (GIIFF) in Venice, CA. This 6th Annual event celebrates the betterment and elevation of the dignity of humanity.

"WALKING WHILE BLACK: L.O.V.E. Is The Answer" is a socially-conscious documentary film bridging the painful gap between peace officers and the communities they serve. L.O.V.E. is an acronym for police and others who serve the community -- LEARN about the community you serve, OPEN your heart to the people in it, VOLUNTEER yourself to be part of the solution in their lives, and EMPOWER others to do the same. This powerful film about reconciliation and putting love into action is the launch of a movement to end racial profiling, and usher in a new era of equal protection under the law, and vastly improved relations between peace officers and the communities they serve.

The GIIFF was founded in 2012 with a mission to preserve the values and aspirations of all indigenous people and Garifuna cultures. Founded by Freda Sideroff, an indigene of the Garifuna, the GIFF showcases important lessons to be learned from indigenous cultures such as interconnectedness, wisdom of our elders, sustainable living and how to live in harmony with nature.
