GIM's PGDM-PT classroom is a consortium of next-level professionals learning from each other

It often gets intriguing when a well-paid, well-positioned professional decides to leave the comforts of acushy job to embrace the rigour of academia. Prathamesh Pai Bir is one of these people. A mechanical engineer by profession, Prathamesh always thought that he could rise through the ranks by sheer hard work. "But as the years passed, I was proved wrong," he says. "I realised that understanding the business as a whole was important if I wanted to grow." This, plus his interest in wealth management, is what prompted Prathamesh to enter the part-time PGDMprogramme

However, the experience comes with its share of hard work. Prathamesh explains that because the programme drives students to perform and work hard in order to achieve their goals, work-load planning is the key to success. "Yes, the programme gets taxing, but in order to achieve something you need to strive and work hard in order to achieve it," says a satisfied Prathamesh.

Needless to say, alumni like Prathamesh are assets to institutions. When asked about the things he would like to suggest in order to make the PGDM PT experience even more enriching and interactive for participants, Prathamesh shared some deep insights: "I feel the institute can mix the PGDM-PT and PGP students for knowledge sharing or interaction. This will help in Networking and the dissemination of industry practices. Integration is required, which will also help the PGP students in gaining some practical insights of the real world."
