Follow on Google News | ![]() HYC Hosts 31st WorldFest RegattaThe 50th Anniversary of the WorldFest Houston Film Festival culminated in style with over 70 nationalities represented at the 31st Annual Consular Regatta at Houston Yacht Club.
Visitors were greeted by General Manager Adam Scott and the Vice Commodore Jack Yoes. The participants were then given a brief tour of the grounds by WorldFest founder and award winning producer/director Hunter Todd (also an HYC member). Also welcoming guest was a complimentary selection of local microbrewery beers. A skipper's meeting with the 15 plus Houston Yacht Club members graciously hosting WorldFest participants on their vessels, the crews were assigned and the race was on. Crews had just 45 minutes to get themselves to their respective boats and race through the starting line. The regatta included a race out to numerous points on Galveston Bay and a sprint back to the finish line. After the race, Houston Yacht Club members and WorldFest participants enjoyed a full Texas BBQ dinner, a photo op with 2 Texas Longhorn Steer and danced the afternoon away to a live band. Complimentary Wine, Champagne and local Micro brewery beer helped keep the party going right up until the buses left to take visitors back to Houston for their final night's stay. Houston Yacht Club was founded in 1897 and relocated to its current location in 1927. This year marks the 120th Anniversary of the Club and the 90th Anniversary in the historic "Pink Palace" Clubhouse.
