Follow on Google News | Experiencing Your First CrossFit EventBy: FlexFit Mats Before the Event Sleep! Seriously, you'll need to sleep as much as possible for at least a week prior to the event. You're going to be jacked up on adrenaline and fueled by the excitement of the day , so don't count of getting full nights of sleep the night before or during the competition. Prepare for this by getting as much sleep as you can before it begins. Also, tone down your workouts leading up to the event. Throw down a mat and do some light cardio a couple times a day (more on mats later), but steer clear of heavy lifting and extreme endurance training. Give your body a chance to heal up to 100%. During the Event Eat and Drink! You need those calories, and you must stay hydrated. The excitement of your first event and your eagerness to do well might mess with your appetite, but it's a long competition and your body needs fuel, so eat and drink all the time. Stay ready. Between events, some competitors might choose to take a break or get in a quick nap. Staying warmed up is a better way to make sure you're ready to go for the next session. Bring a mat with you so you can throw it down and do some quick aerobics or cardio to keep yourself ready. Regarding mats, you'll need something both portable and secure. There's no telling what kind of flooring you'll have access to, so you'll need something that grabs anywhere. Your best bet is a FlexFit mat since it's lightweight, easy to carry, and you can put it down over practically any surface. After the Event Be honest with yourself. How did you do? Was your performance better or worse than you expected? Was there anything that surprised you? What was your impression of the other competitors? Asking yourself honest questions and giving yourself honest answers so you're aware of the areas that need the most improvement is the #1 way to improve yourself for the next CrossFit event. http://www.flexfitmats.com #flexfitmats #crossfit #fitnes End
