NEW ORLEANS - Aug. 25, 2017 - PRLog -- A jarring t-shirt is delivering a message and a donation from New Orleans: that people are fed up with violent crime but also as committed as ever to helping others.

Neutral Ground News (http://www.neutralgroundnews.com), a locally-based satirical website, developed the infamous "NOLA: No One Leaves Alive" t-shirt as a tongue-in-cheek way to voice a growing frustration with the city's rise in violence and also support a victim of one of the area's recent shocking crimes.

Boston-native Tim Byrne was critically injured two months ago on June 24 in an attack on Bienville Street along with companion James Curran after being blindsided by four muggers. Byrne was punched in the back of the head and collapsed, unconsciously, onto the hard concrete.

In response to the vicious mugging of Byrne, a member of the Unitarian Universalist Association in town for its General Assembly, Neutral Ground News sold the "No One Leaves Alive" shirt with all profits being donated to the UUA Staff Assistance Fund, which provides cash grants to UUA employees in meeting emergency expenses in times of crisis. The donation was made on behalf of the people of New Orleans.

"When we first heard the news and then saw the horrifying footage, we were beyond ashamed that they (Byrne and Curran) came to New Orleans looking to have a good, memorable time and had the worst one imaginable," said Don Kiebels, Chief Editor of Neutral Ground News.

The fund is primarily funded through voluntary payroll contributions of UUA staff, however, the organization is currently accepting donations from outside the staff at this time due to the strong desire of many to help out after the attack in New Orleans. Those interested in making their own donations can visit https://giving.uua.org/friends and put in the comments that you wish for the money to be applied to the Staff Assistance Fund.

"Like so many, we're fed up with feeling scared on our own streets, when they aren't flooding, and constantly looking over our shoulders," Kiebels noted of the seemingly daily reports of violent crime. "The shirt matter-of-factly displays that on-going sentiment but also shows the willingness of our people to band together and help those in need. What happened to Mr. Byrne and Mr. Curran does not represent New Orleans, but at the moment, sadly, for so many it does."

The NOLA: No One Leaves Alive t-shirt, which is still for sale, can be found at http://www.facebook.com/NeutralGroundNews/shop.
