By: Net World Sports Known as "The Dons" after founder and chairman Don Hales, the UK Business Awards recognise and celebrate the exceptional business performance of companies from across the country. With awards up for grabs in 20 different categories, the prize is endorsed by the well-respected business school Cranfield School of Management. Previous winners have included Virgin Money, Aldi, Unibet, O2, Barclays, Three, and TNT. The online sports equipment retailer, which is based on Wrexham Industrial Estate in North Wales, secured a spot on the final shortlist after judges said it had "delivered consistent growth and solid financial performance through great leadership, understanding their customers, and engaging employees". A team from the firm will head to the world-famous football stadium in London in a few weeks' time for the gala ceremony, where they will make a final presentation and be grilled by a judging panel made up of independent businessmen and women. Net World Sports is up against five other companies in the best SME category, with the overall winner revealed on the day once all contestants have made their pitch for glory. Net World Sports will head to Wembley Stadium on the back of another awards boost. The business has already been notified it will feature on the 2017 Wales Fast Growth 50 list when this year's ranking is unveiled on 20 October. First launched in 1999 by Professor Dylan Jones-Evans OBE, the annual rundown is the definitive barometer of industry in Wales and is based on a company's turnover growth over a two-year period. As well as featuring on the main list of 50 fastest-growing firms based in Wales, Net World Sports is in the running for two other accolades when the 2017 Wales Fast Growth 50 rundown is revealed in Cardiff next month, the 'Fastest Growing Business in North Wales' and the 'Fastest Growing Retailer'. In addition, it's the only UK business to appear in all three of the most recent Sunday Times Fast Track 100 league tables ranking profitability, sales, and export figures. Alex Lovén, Managing Director of Net World Sports, commented: "We sell more than 100,000 of our FORZA football goals throughout the world every year, making us the UK's biggest-selling goal manufacturer, so it's fitting that we now get to go to Wembley Stadium, the traditional 'home of football', to compete for this prestigious award. "These latest accolades are further well-deserved recognition for the outstanding efforts of our fantastic team. The period covered by our UK Business Awards shortlisting has been a crucial one in the business's continued growth. Not only did we treble warehouse space to 120,000 square foot towards the end of last year, but we've recently completed a 3,000 square foot office extension to house our expanding team and the all additional staff we're currently in the process of recruiting." Net World Sports currently employs a team of around 80 and is hiring across virtually all departments. Current roles being recruited for include Social Media Manager, Customer Care Advisor, Brand Manager, and Magento Developer.
