Small cell lung cancer develops from small round cells which form the fleshy lumps within the large airways. Subsequently, small cell lung cancer may also spread to lymph nodes and/or to other organs of the body. Although radiation therapy is sometimes utilized as treatment for small cell lung cancers, this disease however is more responsive to chemotherapy treatment than others. Surgical removal of small cell lung cancer is also recommended in some rare cases.
