United Premier Soccer League Announces Northeast Conference Expansion with Mass United FC

LOS ANGELES - Oct. 27, 2017 - PRLog -- The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is excited to announce Mass United Football Club as a new member starting with the 2018 Spring Season.

Based in Boston, Mass United FC will begin UPSL play in the Northeast Conference.

United Premier Soccer League Commissioner Yan Skwara said, "We are very pleased to announce Mass United FC as a new member team of the UPSL. Owner Jim Antonakas knows the ins-and-outs of the Pro Development game and has done great work in elevating Mass United over the years. We wish Mass United FC the best of success in their current run in the U.S. Open Cup qualifying rounds and also in the upcoming UPSL 2018 Spring Season."

Jim Antonakas is Owner and General Manager of Mass United FC, which will play in a 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Round 3 Game on Nov. 18-19. Antonakas, 49, is a long-time entrepreneur and soccer coach in Massachusetts.

Mass United FC Owner and General Manager Jim Antonakas said, "We wanted to find a top league at a national level, and we think the UPSL is going to be a great fit for a lot of our young players. "We are constantly looking for platforms to create game experience for our players, and we feel that the UPSL is going to be a great opportunity for them to be able to keep playing and increase their game experience and development."

Mass United FC has played big international clubs like Oxford United Football Club from England's League One, and Stade Renne and Guingamp from France's Ligue 1. The club will travel to Spain for a pair of friendlies this December and has return trip to France scheduled for a series of friendlies in March 2018.

"We began our international tours last year and we really feel that's our whole mission and goal is for our players to continue to develop," Antonakas said. "Some will stay local and play the rest of their careers as they live their lives and others will get the opportunity to keep moving up."

Mass United FC will play its home game at Hormel Stadium (Locust Street, Medford, MA 02155) in compliance with UPSL's Minimum Standards. The team soon will announce its upcoming game schedule.
