How to Spread Halloween Fun Throughout Your Community This Year

OMAHA, Neb. - Oct. 29, 2017 - PRLog -- Is everyone ready for all the Halloween fun tomorrow? Such a fun night of costumes, candy, and good times with family and neighbors. I had such a great time last year taking my daughter trick or treating for the first time, and this year I will have two little unicorns to show off!

I just quickly wanted to share something with you all that came up last minute for my family's Halloween plans. My older daughter and I have been visiting the same nursing home 2-3 times a month for over a year now, and I just found out they actually do a trick or treating event! So I just wanted to make a brief post encouraging you guys to include our elderly community members in the festivities and stop by a family member's nursing home, or maybe even just one close to you. I can tell you with absolute confidence that you will have such a great time watching their faces light up when they see your little ones walking into their rooms.

Investing a small portion of time into our local nursing homes is something that is very important to my family because during some research on the subject we learned that nearly 80% of nursing home residents in America have no close family members; leaving them without phone calls, letters, or visitors. These are mother, fathers, grandparents, teachers, war veterans; these are members of our community being forgotten. So please, if you and your family are in costume anyways, just reach out to a nursing home and see if they offer trick or treating around their resident's rooms. More candy for your kids and it will really make the residents' night to relive the days of passing out candy from home.
