By: United Premier Soccer League Based in Nashua, N.H., International SC will play in the UPSL's Northeast Conference. United Premier Soccer League Commissioner Yan Skwara said, "We are very pleased to welcome International SC out of Nashua, New Hampshire to the UPSL and the Northeast Conference. The Northeast continues to prove a fertile region for Pro Development soccer, and International SC's ownership, led by Jared Barbosa, is ready to make a big impact both on and off the field. We wish International SC the best of luck as it prepares for the Spring Season." International SC is co-owned by Jared Barbosa and Billy Holland, both former collegiate players in the Northeast. Barbosa, 31, played at Salem State University and is a Guidance Counselor at a local middle school. He also operates LHIFA Soccer Club, a growing youth club in Nashua. Holland, 26, played at Franklin Pierce College and is the Warehouse Manager at Rockingham Marble and Granite in Londonderry, N.H. International SC Co-Owner Jared Barbosa said, "We've been looking to add another layer to what we've been doing with the youth club, we believe that with the addition of International SC that this is the missing piece to soccer in Southern NH." International Soccer Club was founded in 1992 as a youth soccer organization led by John Paul Motta, the current President of USASA, and coached by former NASL professional player Manny "Boom Boom" Barbosa, father of current co-owner Jared Barbosa. The name of the club reflected the population of the club and the growing diversity in Nashua, N.H. "Motta and Barbosa impacted so many peoples lives then. In many ways, we brought this back to pay homage to them because they did it not for the money but the love of the game," Jared Barbosa said. "Billy and I decided we wanted to bring it back. We love the name. We love the logo. We think it fits quite well with what we're already doing. Jerold White will serve as the team's head coach. Nelson Neves is the club's Director of Promotions. Joey Ortiz is the club's Director of Media and Videography. "We are really focused on the organizational piece of our club, we have a solid admin team in place. We have a vision and a direction which ends with Nashua being put back on the map as a Premiere Soccer Community in New Hampshire. We believe that with a strong presence in the community, collaborating with existing organizations, providing employment and internship opportunities, implementing unique soccer programming, and promoting local business we can build and strengthen on Nashua's existing soccer culture," Barbosa said. The team will play its home games at Rivier University (420 South Main Street, Nashua, NH 03060) in compliance with the UPSL's Minimum Standards. The club will soon announce its upcoming game schedule.
